Abstract

This study is aimed to recognizing morphologic differences between 120 malocclusive patients with tooth agenesis (study group) and two comparison groups: first one composed by 1,000 malocclusion cases (Travesí, 1990) and the second one, by 366 schoolchildren of Granada city (Lozano et al, 1999). The characteristics that shown significant differences with respect to both comparison groups have been retrusive maxillary position and flat oseous profile in the hypodontia group with protrusive position of the Menton. Cephalometric characteristics of malocclusive Classes of the hypodontia patients group have been similar to the general sample of malocclusive patients. Of a clinican's view-point we have observed the most important difference between Class II maloclusions. So, the study group has shown least mandibular development and more vertical pattern of growth than the general malocclusive Class 11 subsample.
