Abstract

Este trabajo analiza los cambios históricos que se están produciendo en la concepción de la política agrícola común en los más de 50 años de existencia y que están teniendo amplias repercusiones. Se trata de uno de los sectores más sensibles de la economía por sus profundas connotaciones económicas, sociales y estratégicas. La evolución del modelo europeo es un ejemplo paradigmático de cómo esta política intenta buscar su espacio en los albores del siglo XXI, con una larga experiencia de logros y debilidades, sujeto a presiones sociales y políticas, pero siempre en la búsqueda de un sistema cada vez más competitivo y, recientemente, cada vez más vinculado a la política de cohesión y al desarrollo rural. Para alcanzar nuestros objetivos hemos recurrido, como fuentes, a los trabajos realizados por la Unión Europea en la elaboración de informes, documentos y estadísticas, así como referencias bibliográficas de autores que han tratado los temas referidos. Sobre esta documentación basamos nuestras conclusiones.
