Abstract
In general terms, education consists of more than a mere presentation of scientific concepts included in a subject or plan of studies. University education is not an exception and, therefore, it is strongly determined by context variables. This study is part of a wide investigation wich describes the qualities of education in the Faculty of Dentistry of Granada, Spain. It also deals with the following aspects: a) characteristics of students in the faculty (geographic, social-economic and familiar background, academic qualifications, learning skills), and b) teaching staff (academic and profesional background, clinical and teaching experience, proffesional expectations, and fulfilment). There are educational input elements and complements to process variables (that is, teaching methods, training works and experiences, class tuition) wich will be studied in further publications.
