Resumen
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is one of the most complex joints inthe human body.Like any other joint can suffer multiple pathologies that are groupedgenerically with the name temporomandibular disorder (TMD).Symptomatology of temporomandibular disorders includes, joint pain,masticatory muscle pain, limitations in range of motion, click and crepitation inTMJ.It is a frequent problem in adulthood, (20 and 40 years). However, thesymptoms are increasing in children. Epidemiological studies have shown this,although in children symptoms are more moderate. In USA more there are morethan 10 million children with different degrees of TMD and whereas in othercountries values are more than 1/3 of the affected child population.Although the etiology of TMD is controversial, today is widely acceptedthat it is multifactorial. This multifactorial etiology seems clear in the adult patient but it is not clear in children because they have different morphologicaland functional characteristics than the adult patients...
