Un manual olvidado de español para alemanes:Theoretisch-Praktische Lehre der Spanischen Sprache (Leipzig, 1806) de Manuel Pérez Ramajo

Abstract

This work will try to explain a less known textbook for teaching Spanish as a foreign language by the Spaniard Manuel Pérez Ramajo, TheoretischPraktische Lehre der Spanischen Sprache mit der wörtlichen interlinearen Uebersetzung der Beyspiele und Gespräche (Leipzig, 1806), as a transitional work between the traditional method and the protocommunicative proposals by Ollendorf in the context of the didactical trends for teaching Spanish in Germany in the 19th century. Therefore, the grammatical sources of the work will be carefully established, and the content of the textbook will be drawn: a grammar with additional remarks on syntax and orthography, samples of dialogues and letters, being address forms especially considered, and a short anthology of poems, in which some poems by the very Pérez Ramajo signing as «R. . . o» can be highlighted.
