Abstract

This work intends to present the centuries-Iong relationship between "Don Quixote", its edition and translation abroad and teaching of Spanish as linked to language professors who published several items with the purpose of teaching Spanish language to foreigners. We shall start off with the first translators of "Don Quixote" to French and Italian, the well-known grammarians and lexicographers César Oudin and Lorenzo Franciosini in the very 17th century. But we will proceed with lesser known authors in England in the 18th century and in Germany at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. The end will be reached in China in the finaIs years of the 20th century and at the dawn of the 21th century.
