This paper describes the quality of life of the Spanish prison population in relation to the perception of their health status. 882 inmates who met imprisonment in prisons of Cataluña, Aragon, Madrid and Castilla La Mancha was evaluated. The results show a poorer perception of their quality of life and health among inmates who have a lower level of education, those who have committed violent crimes, repeat offenders and with a family history of mental illness, those with heart diseases and disease mental. This work can provide relevant data on the dimension of quality of life in prisons, not studied dimension and puts in turn demonstrates the need for further research inherent in the situation of incarceration variables and their impact on quality of life and the health of persons deprived of liberty.
