Abstract

The main aim of the study was to determine the association between the participation of the libero and other players, in the game actions of reception and dig, and its efficacy, in both gender. The study sample was comprised of 3592 game actions (1948 in male, 1644 in female), car-ried out by the 34 teams participating in the Under-16 Spanish Champion-ship. The study variables were: play-er involved in reception/dig and re-ceptions/dig efficacy. The results showed, in both genders, significant association between the player in-volved in reception and the reception efficacy (χ2=21.070ª; Cramer’s V=.134; p>.001; χ2=11.668ª; Cramer’s V =.103; p=.009, respec-tively). In the dig action, no statisti-cal association was found between the player involved in the dig and the dig efficacy (χ2=6.216ª; Cramer’s V =.108; p=.102), in male gender, but this association was found in female gender (χ2=10.966ª; Cramer’s V =.143; p=.012), contributing to this association error efficacy of the li-bero player. These results show that the intervention of libero favors the reception in both gender, but it could damage the dig in female gender.
