Abstract

This thesis tries to deepen in the investigation of intermediate variables that moderate or modify the relation between the proactivity in the environmental management and the organizational and environmental performance. We looked for these intermediate variables in the subprocesses of organizational learning and the learning styles related with the proactivity in the environmental management. So, we divided our work in two parts. The first one is a theoretical frame that tries to delimit and tie the terms, and to establish the relations. The proposals are reunited in a theoretical model and hypothesis to contrast. The second part is centered in a quantitative empirical study on a sample of Spanish companies which work in the mineral industries. For the analysis, we use structural equations models techniques known as partial least square. As main conclusion we corroborated that the proactivity in environmental management and the organizational performance are related through intermediate variables, but not in a direct way. The internal learning sources, and the external ones in combination with the internal ones, have been revealed as one of these mediating variables.
