Multifunctional peacekeeping within the framework of collective security and its relevance in the new millenniuma case study of the Liberian operations

Resumen

While reflecting on the likely future trajectory of peacekeeping operations, the author of this project is more than persuaded that peacekeeping operations at the least in the next five decades of this new millennium will still play a very crucial role in the management and control of both intra-and interstate conflicts-supporting stable peace as well as increasingly protecting endangered populations. Even though it may seem this promising, the author still sees wisdom in the words of former UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan that, peace operations stand at a fork in the road.
