Resumen

The stratigraphic and mineralogieal study of several burdigalian series of the High Chain (Subbetic), Tajo Almarado (Penibetic), Águila Complex, Arguelles succession and Zafarraya type Units allow to define and early Burdigalian Depositional Sequence and show some sedimentological differences among them. Three types of sedimentary contributions have been observed: from the emerged subbetic reliefs, numidian-like sediments and basinal silexites. The numidian influence in subbetics series comes from erosion of the African Plate. This allows to propose the existence of a paleogeographic domain in the transition to a basin connected to the above mentioned source areas, conditioned by the tectonic structuring of the South-lberian margin during this age.
