Abstract
General self efficacy and self efficacy or confidence in one's ability to refrain from drug consumption in a series of high risk situations are analyzed for drug addicts in treatment. Sixty drug and alcohol abusers were included in this study. Groups were divided with respect to the type of therapy they were involved in (Methadone group, drug free group, alcohol group (control group)). General self efficacy measures were correlated with measures of ability to refrain from use in high risk situations self efficacy, severity of drug and alcohol abuse and sociodemographic variables. Results revealed differences between the three groups with respect to general self efficacy and consumption self efficacy.
