Résumé

Analysis of the projects to provide the port of Almería with facilities and services, and of the urban transformations of the marine front in the period of study (1800-1950). In those years, the arquitecture used in the port is significantly abundant in frustrated projects and very limited in accomplishments. To be emphasized, within the little constructed, the iron structures of the sheds, with the formal success that meant for the image of the port the choice, since 1880, of the cover in reduced vault, maintaining it in the successive enlargements. And, among the frustrated projects, the fast diffusion of the new architecture in the years of the Second Republic, encouraged from Madrid as a sign of modernity, which caused, in our case, designs of very irregular quality. The conclusions show that, with the failure of the great majority of the projects for facilities and services of the port, numerous since the construction of the docks is finished, the delay caused by the late construction of transport infrastructures in the town (railway, port and roads) is not only surpassed but it gets worse throughout the first half of century XX, making that the development achieved in the town during the XIX century holds up and gets into crisis. The second volume of the thesis is made up by three graphic annexes: I Historical cartography of the town and the port, II Photographies and engravings, and III Graphic documentation of the Historical File from the Harbour Authority Almeria-Motril.
