Resumen

In the last three decades, economic and social inequalities have increased dramatically in the European Union. Inequalities tear the social fabric, undermine social cohesion and prevent nations, communities and individuals thrive. The growing inequalities have led to an explosion of poverty and social exclusion, with the aggravating circumstance that children are the most affected population. This situation is worrying, both economically and socially. Economically, its because these generations will determine the future economic prosperity. Socially, its because it causes great instability and social exclusion, and because the whole society is deprived of talent and knowledge of many of its members. In this paper the evolution of inequality in recent years in Andalusia, Spain and in the countries of our environment is analyzed. To do this, we will build indexes of economic inequality and, using statistical-inference analysis, we will study the existence of geographic patterns within Andalusia.
