Resumen

El incremento de los flujos migratorios supone un gran reto en los contextos de recepción, especialmente en los ámbitos locales. Por eso, en este artículo examinamos la evolución del sentimiento hacia la inmigración en la ciudad de El Ejido (Almería) desde el año 2000 hasta la actualidad (2008). Con la intención de conocer si se están repitiendo los elementos que ocasionaron uno de los conflictos raciales más importantes de Europa hemos construido el índice de percepción anti-extranjero. Los datos se obtienen a través de un estudio longitudinal a partir de la administración de una encuesta en esos dos años. Los resultados muestran que se ha producido un incremento de la hostilidad hacia los inmigrantes, volviéndose a repetir los indicadores, aunque de manera más acentuada, que provocaron el conflicto: así, se mantiene la percepción de que son una competencia y amenaza tanto en la esfera individual (salarios, empleos o recursos del bienestar) como colectiva (identidad nacional).
