Abstract

This Doctoral Thesis includes all the results obtained in the studies of chemical characterization and biological activity of P. decumanum. The potential of the leaves as a source of bioactive chemical compounds have been evaluated since they may be use in the development of nutraceuticals and in the improving of some diseases, including cancer. The manuscript has been structured in three main sections: introduction, experimental part, and conclusions. The experimental part is divided into five chapters, each of them focused on one of the objectives proposed at the initial research plan of the Thesis.
