In this thesis we present a 3D shear-wave velocities model for the upper crust of Costa Rica obtained from surface (Rayleigh) waves. Rayleigh waves were extracted from empirical Green functions estimated from ambient noise cross correlation. We compute the daily cross correlations between a total of 56 broadband seismic stations across all Costa Rica for the period from 2010 to 2015. To compute the cross correlations for this work, we used the classical cross correlation (CCC). The results from the 2D group velocities tomography for the Turrialba volcano obtained from ambient noise for 2016 are also presented, however for this study the daily cross correlations of the 21 broadband seismic stations were calculated using the PCC (Phase Cross Correlation).
