Resumen

After 25 years of implementation of the Rural Development Initiative LEADER, an assessment of their actions it is necessary. The impact of LEADER I and II, in a Local Action Group, Alpujarras, through the continuity of the businesses created, is studied. Most of them continue working, 67% of them. This, despite having been pioneers in new sectors such as tourism and agri-food valorisation of resources and local crafts. Meanwhile, technicians point as major achievements: increased local decision-making, but with a decrease in the last period, the increase in social capital and economic diversification -to tourism-. In conclusion, a successful Initiative, despite the scarcity of funds and excessive bureaucracy.
