The mineral seams of the Rumblar River Valley, which belong to the mining district of Linares-La Carlonia were intensely exploited during ancient times, especially during recent Prehistory and the Roman Period. The main evidence of this activity are the large number of mining remains (trenches, survey pits, galleries, slag dumps…) and settlements that are fossilized in the landscape and that have been located during the field work carried out in the area en the last years. In this paper we analyze the exploitation system of the mines of the Rumblar Valley, the organization of mine production and the territorial structuring during both Recent Prehistory and the Roman Period.
