Zusammenfassung

BACKGROUND. An important part of the teaching and learning of Molecular Biology at university is the experimental work. However in many cases it is expensive, ethically questionable or impossible because of time constraints. Therefore, most practical classes allow the implementation of only a few basic arrangements. In this regard, virtual laboratories are valuable tools to complement theoretical classes and basic hands-on practice. METHOD. The activity was carried out on the subject of Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Medicine (University of Granada) with an open access virtual laboratory. Students received information about the virtual lab and molecular techniques and were required to answer some questions. After finishing the activity, we gave them an anonymous opinion poll. RESULTS.74.7% of the enrolled molecular biology students completed the activity, with 68.75% doing so to contribute to their course marks, 56.25% of the students rated the laboratory difficulty as medium. 93.75% of students indicated that they had acquired new knowledge. Rating (1-10): 8.1. CONCLUSIONS. This initiative has been well received by the students and might be a useful tool for the acquisition and / or consolidation of knowledge.
