Abstract
Although the historiography of Spanish music has been developed during the last decades, it is still influded by a geographical, historical and personal centralism, focusing on big cities, on its most relevants events and on its main characters. Nervertheless, in recent years this approach is beeing contrasted by several studies about music in cities (Oviedo, Barcelona, Granada, Cádiz, Jaén, Almería) which offer a new perspective of its musical life , revealing the variety and richness of the musical activities that coexist in Spain during the contemporary era, mainly nineteenth and twentieth century. In this way, general, cultural or specifically musical periodical become a research source containing a large amount of relevant musical information. This paper aims to show that the comprehensive analysis of the musical information located in La Alhambra, revista de artes y letras, published in Granada during twenty-seven years, with an adequate methodology that yields more than nine hundred records, offers us a greater complexity of the musical activity of the city and seeks a smaller generalization of the historical processes, obtaining a new, richer approach towards a Microhistory of contemporary Spanish music
