Zusammenfassung

The objective of the research is to discuss the process of environmental adaptation to the indirect effects of climate change for the aging population, from the approaches of vulnerability and environmental gerontology. The methodology has been based on an exhaustive review of the literature through the consultation of databases, such as Web of Science and Scopus. The results indicate a limited knowledge of the factors that determine the process of environmental adaptation to the indirect effects of climate change for the elderly, which increases their vulnerability and conditions their adaptability to climate threats. Also, problems in estimating indirect and intangible damages, mainly socioeconomic and health, are determined by a poor understanding of the importance of the environment in aging for health professionals and risk management. It is proposed to review the theories and methodologies of risk management focused on the identification and quantification of damage with the purpose of generating prevention and mitigation actions in the environment of a population aging in a climate change scenario-
