Abstract

Results obtained on original and Spanish versions of the Tinnitus Reaction Questionnaire - TRQ- (Wilson et al. in 1991 in English) to assess the psychological distress of tinnitus suffers, are compared. Reliability and validity of the Spanish translation, from 85 patients with tinnitus associated or not with hearing impaired are shown. Subjects fulfilled the translated TRQ version, the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), the State Trait Anxiety lnventory (STA1), and the Eysenck Personality lnventory (EP1). The results indicated good interna! consistency (indexes among 0.89 and 0.96 . A statistically significant correlation appears between the TRQ and BDI and STAI. The adapted TRQ has psychometrics properties like to the original English version. This allows its use in Spanish populations with the same reliability and validity guarantees as the original instrument.
