Resumen

The 17 Cançons populars catalanes per a piano by David Padrós (born 1942) emerge from a proposal to retrieve some selected sources of popular music, with the aim of re-performing them in the context of contemporary cult music. In Padrós composition, the accompaniment of the original songs is closely linked to its sources, as a result of a rigorous, substantial research of the corresponding sonorous material and of its later abstraction and synthesis which, in accordance with the composers construction proposals, emphasises the various musical elements, highlighting those of an intervallic and diastematic character. Through the analysis of pieces 1, 4 and 6 some of these composition processes can be observed, through which interactions between the original melodies and the contemporary accompaniment appear.
