Abstract

The study analyzes, from a general perspective but with plenty of specific and practical examples, the changes that have characterized Spanish sovereignty as a consequence of its membership in the process of European construction. Although formally and nominally this concept remains unchanged, and the European Union respects it explicitly, it is evident that the Law of the Union conditions and affects our State. For this reason, its decision-making autonomy is reduced, especially in the economic framework, subject of the epigraph II of the essay (the other two, the I and the III, have a more generic character). It is, really, in the economic sphere where the European integration has achieved more significant progresses. However this sovereignty, limited or shared, is wanted and encouraged by Spain, so it becomes healthy and even necessary to affront the challenges and the functions, those internals as those externals, which the State has in front.
