Abstract

This work introduces a Website, http://www.ugr.es/~bioestad/ which contains information both of general interest as well as material specifically aimed at students taking Statistics related subjects as part of their Bachelor Degree courses in Biology or Environmental Science at the University of Granada. It provides teaching material for these subjects as well as a self-learning interactive program for students learning the SPSS Statistics software package. This interactive program consists of a Web portal http://www.ugr.es/~bioestad/guiaspss/index.html where you can find different exercises which are explained and resolved using the SPSS program and guided exercises resolved interactively through a tutorial emulator program from the SPSS Statistics package. On the one hand, the project aims to develop a computer tool where the main teaching resource to be used is an interactive program which facilitates student self-learning, both inside and outside the classroom. On the other hand, it aims to encourage active student participation in his/her own learning process and in the pursuit of a deeper understanding of course contents. It is very important to note that this is free software and so access is not restricted to students registered in these subjects. The main goal is to present the SPSS Self-Learning Interactive Guide (Version 3.0). In this new software, Version 2.1 has been revised, amended and extended with a new practical exercise, Exercise 6, in which parametric and non-parametric hypotheses are contrasted.
