Carta de Don Diego Hurtado de Mendoza al Cardenal Espinosa sobre la Guerra de Granada

The letter of the 5th of May of 1569 from Diego Hurtado de Mendoza to Cardinal Espinosa is an essential document in order to know about the situation of Granada during the first months of the war against the Moorish in the Alpujarras. But in addition to that it represents an extraordinary example of the tacitist thinking of the second half of 16th Century. The letter had been already published by Ángel González Palencia and Eugenio Mele in the third volume of Life and actions of Don Diego Hurtado de Mendoza in 1943. Now it is being published including an historical and political introduction, some notes and a moderate modernization of the spelling and punctuation.
