Resumen

The recent capture of the drainage of the ancient endohreic Guadix-Baza basin is favoured by a process of uplift implyng northwestward tilting and shift of the ancient axial master drainage system. Since the capture onwards a dendritic drainage pattern (western sector) and a centripetal one (eastern sector) are developed impiyng associated phenomena of fluvial superimposition. Flow inversion in some reaches of the trunk stream carries on the appearance of a barbed drainage pattern showing boat hook bends. The new equilibrium profile created after the piracy is responsible for the inestability of the infilling of the ancient basin. So, rapid erosion started giving way to a badlands landscape in which the development of badlands and piping has a control in the stratigraphic architecture of the alluval sediments being eroded away
