Abstract

This paper examines the effect of knowledge combination capability in the relation between innovation and firm performance. Using a sample 205 of SMEs of Spanish technology-based firms (TBFs), this study verifies that in the studied sector the knowledge combination capability positively moderates the relation of the product innovation and the firm performance, but not so in the case of innovation process. The results of this investigations indicate that this capacity can be necessary for the success of innovative performance in technology companies where innovation is essential, and therefore, can be a key to creating competitive advantage.
