Abstract

In our clinical practice we find frequently anatomic limitations of the residual alveolar bone that result in esthetic and fuctional compromise, even the impossibility of implant placement. Actually, as the science of implant dentistry has progressed, advances in regenerative techniques have transformed the entire concept. This has ocurred in part because of the patients demands for improved esthetics (mainly in the anterior maxilla) and because of the development of techniques to alter or augment the residual ridge with bone grafts, reconstructive methods with guided osseous regeneration and an increasing number of surgical techniques. In the present study we report on five clinical cases with osseous defects. We show the technique for the grafting and we discuss our results. We also offer an approach about the advises and methods to carry on in the surgical procedures.
