Résumé

Purpose: To evaluate periodontal status and treatment needs of a convict drug-abusers population in different stages of HIV infection. Patients and methods: 128 convicts persons (men) with similar VIH infection risk factors. We study PI, CL probing depth and CPITN in both groups VIH infected (66) and non infected (62) Statistical analysis were realized with Student t test and x' Results: PI, CI and probing depth were similar in both groups, CPITN scores includes only X, 2 and 3 codes; predominant 3 codes were recorded in VIH infected, and 2 codes in non infected convicts, periodontal treatment needs were the same in both populations. Conclusions: Periodontal health is slightly inferior in infected HIV group than HIV negative ones; and periodontal treatment needs were the same in both groups of convicts.
