Abstract
This work aims to be a useful reference guide for dentists and orthodontists who want to initiate any research work applying the twin method. In it, the main basic concepts in this regard are explained, the usefulness of these studies is justified and a brief orientation is given on the handing of the data, basic statistics and procedures to determine twin zygosity. Finally, the results of the principal investigations performed in the work up to and including 1998, applying this method in the field of dentistry and orthodontics, is explained.
