Resumen

It is carried out a study about the craniofacial morphometry in 6 girls with growth retardation due to Turner's syndrome (TS). The results obtained have been compared with three groups of girls with growth retardation: 1) 18 girls with familiar low height (FLH); 2) 12 girls with growth constitutional retardation (GCR), and 3) 10 girls with deficit of growth hormone (DGH). This study has been carried out by means of cephalometric analysis and lateral craniofacial teleradiographies. The aims were: 1) to analyze craniofacial morphometries in girls with growth retardation due to Turner's syndrome; 2) to compare the craniofacial structures of these patients with other growth retardations, and 3) to determinate whether development of craniofacial structures are affected by this chromosomopathy. The results of this study show that maxilla and mandible of the girls with TS are retrognatic with regard to the base of cranium and there are significant statistical differences in relation to the girls with growth retardations because of FLH, GCR and DGH. There is a maladjustment in the anteroposterior relationship between maxilla and mandible as this last is in a position more posterior than maxilla in the girls with TS. There is an increase of incisive projection in the girls with TS and significant statistical differences in relation to the girls with growth retardation because of FLH, GCR an DGH.
