Abstract

Introduction: The nutritional supplementation with DHA. 5-MTHF , DHA +5- MTHF during the second half of pregnancy produces biochemical effects in mothers and their newborns. Material and methods: 153 healthy pregnant women, 18-40 years, WP 201 assigned at r andom, double blind, four supplements (DHA: 0.5 g / day , 5-MTHF : 0.4 mg / day; both or placebo). LC -PUF A studied associated with plasma phospholipids Results: Supplementation with DHA showed the highest concentr ations of DHA and low n-6/n-3 and AA / DHA, in SG 30 and delivery . Mothers supplemented with DHA showed an increase in DHA between GS 20- 30, remain high until delivery . There were significant correlations mother-newborn (DHA: r = 0.30, p = 0.0028; AA / DHA: r = -0.43, p <0.00001). Discussion: Increases of DHA in plasma phospholipids of mother and child, without modifying the levels of AA. Indexe s n-6/n-3 and AA / DHA were lower in groups supplemented with DHA.
