Resumen

El artículo analiza la influencia de las capacidades de gestión en el desempeño en innovación de las pymes de base tecnológica y el papel que juega la diversidad de género en el equipo de alta dirección en esta relación. Utilizamos una muestra de 205 pymes españolas de sectores tecnológicos y un análisis de regresión jerárquica para probar nuestras hipótesis. Los resultados confirman que las capacidades de gestión afectan positivamente a la innovación de productos y procesos. Además, la diversidad de género en el equipo de alta dirección modera positivamente esta relación. En otras palabras, las capacidades de gestión tienen una mayor influencia en la innovación de productos y procesos cuando el equipo de gestión está más equilibrado en número de hombres y mujeres. Este estudio contribuye a una mejor comprensión de los factores que explican cómo las capacidades de gestión se traducen en mayores logros organizativos y plantea la necesidad de analizar de forma más amplia el papel de los equipos de alta dirección y su composición, especialmente en el contexto de las pymes tecnológicas. El estudio también aporta nueva evidencia al reducido número de estudios que analizan el efecto de la diversidad de género en los equipos de alta dirección sobre la innovación.
