Abstract

Neurilemmomas are tumors of neurological origin that only rarely develop in the head and neck. Oral presentations are particularly infrequent. The diagnosis requires histopathological study, for the clinical picture alone may lead to confusion with other, more common types of benign lesions. Three cases of neurilemmoma (two intra- and one extraoral) are presented. Complete resection of the lesion was performed in all three cases, revealing a well circumscribed tumor without adhesion to deep layers. The surface of the lesion was smooth, with a rubbery consistency. In turn, the histological study revealed the presence of Antoni type A and type B cellular patterns, the latter being pathognomonic of schwannomas
