Abstract

The following paper analyses Pont's and Berger's Indices as Mayoral's measurements from a sample of 283 school children from Granada of both sexes, whose ages ranged from 9 to 15 years, the following conclusions being reached: 1- Ethnic variability of Pont's index on comparing our results with those obtained in studies performed on other populations. 2- Low reliability of this lndex to predict the width of the arch from the sum of the mesio-distal diametres of the four upper incisors. 3- Our sample presents a greater size of teeth at the upper incisors than the sample studied by Mayoral. 4- Our ratio facial width-width of the arch coincides with that proposed by Berger.
