Abstract

Following the lifting of the Moorish in 1568 and the War of the Alpujarras, the life of this Granada region is completely altered, since in 1571 the expulsion of the Moorish population occurs to scatter across several areas of Western Andalusia and Castilla and the arrival of new settlers of old Christians, from other peninsular kingdoms. The houses and land lots to be divided among these new settlers are made, generating a large volume of documentation, both for felling and recognition of assets seized, as for distribution among the settlers. This affects the entire Kingdom of Granada, but most particularly to the people of the Alpujarra, as in the case of Carataunas, which is dedicated this article.
