Abstract

Introduction: In 2010 The Alliance for a Cavity-Free Future (ACFF) was developed with different purposes about dental caries prevention and early treatment. In this context, and for Spain and Portugal, the I Iberian Caries Advisory Board (ICAB), decided to develop a Nominal Group Technique (NGT) with the purpose of identifying/establishing priority measures/strategies to arrive to the goals both of the ICAB and ACFF in Spain and Portugal. Methods: A NGT was conducted in Madrid in october 2013, with eight experts. The question was "What effective measures do you propose to improve dental caries prevention in dental clinics in Spain and Portugal?. The phases were: 1. Generation of ideas by experts, 2. Their statement and explanation, 3. Discussion and fusion of ideas by consensus, 4. Secret voting by prioritization among the ten resulting ideas. Results: The 3 most voted ideas were 1. Professional education/formation, 2 .Professional motivation, and 3. Clinical Guidelines elaboration. Conclusions: There is consensus to propose common strategies/measures for Spain and Portugal to improve implementation of caries prevention in dental clinics.
