Résumé

The aim of this study was to analyze the differences, in the reception, between the men’s volleyball national team of Spain and Brazil, represent two different levels, to determinate how these influence performance of attack and what are distributions according to contextual. We analyzed 669 sequences of attack by a category system based on observational methodology. The matches observed correspond to the Volleyball World Championship played in Rome in 2010. Results show, for each team, the existence of a statistical association between the performance of attack and reception performance and comparatively significant relationship was between reception line and receiving system. We conclude that the performance in reception is a key to the performance of the teams attack and, comparatively, Brazil used more variation in the receiving systems categorized.
