Abstract

The Albuñuelas asymmetric graben is located in the southeastern end of the Granada intramontane basin. Its structure is defined by a conjugate system of E-W normal faults that down-drop the Neogene sedimentary deposits and cross-out a system of north-vergent asymmetric folds. The observed structural features allow the reconstruction of the asymmetric graben evolution and its linkage to the regional geologic evolution of the Betic Chain. The interpreted data from the river profiles and the recent sediments related to the main southern fault (Albuñuelas Fault) suggest the need of revision of its activity.
