Based on the most significant results obtained in recent studies on the school environment, a proposal is made to be applied in educational practice. In order to do so, it collects and adapts the contributions made by Peace Research Studies that have possible applications to education. Firstly, the original proposal of the United Nations on Culture of Peace and its educational implications for coexistence is explained and analysed. It also proposes a series of recommendations for its application in educational practice based on the principles established in the Manifesto 2000. This document was elaborated by a group of Nobel prizes to spread and invite world citizenship to commit with a Culture of Peace. Secondly, the concept of ‘conflict’ is analysed to go beyond its negative interpretation. Starting from the principle ‘where there is life there is conflict’, this article reveals the positive aspects of ‘conflict’ in interpersonal relationships in any area of life. To this end, the most common modalities used in conflict management strategies generated in coexistence are described, together with proposals for its use in the practice of education. In conclusion, to improve school coexistence education must take into account the knowledge and educational treatment of all forms of the Culture of Peace, as a fundamental principle to prevent any type of violence. This is done with the purpose to highlight the presence of multiple peaceful situations that allow us to manage conflicts in a non-violent way, empowering us to continue building spaces and situations of peaceful coexistence, even when there are conflicts and when there are manifestations of violence.
