Resumo

The aims of the present manuscript were 1) To objectives analyze the habits of physical activity (PA), sedentary lifestyle, commuting to school and body composition of Spanish adolescent students, 2) To elaborate a group and individually report which serve as reference guide for schools, teachers, families, and students, in order to promote healthy habits among teenagers throughout the school year. A total of 27 students (14 boys and 13 girls) from two schools of the city of Granada participated in the research. An anthropometric evaluation was performed where weight, height and waist circumference were measured. In addition, an objective evaluation of their PA levels in different time zone by accelerometry zones was performed. As a result, PA levels of the students analyzed, suggest that only the 50% they meet with the minimum recommendations of WHO PA of 60 min / day of Moderate-Vigorous PA. However, they spent the rest of the daily time with a sedentary activity (approx. 70%). The most important results were adapted in a report for the educational center and the students. The report included an evaluation on the type of PA in the different time zones, an evaluation of the body mass index, the waist perimeter and its corresponding feed-back. New strategies to promote PA –as a group or individually, and/or through school or families- where included throughout the report.
