Résumé

In this work we review the importance of field trips with geoscientific content, reflecting on the various contributions from educational research and teaching practice. We try to answer the following questions: Are field trips advisable? Are they necessary for competence development? How can they be integrated into interdisciplinary approaches? What role can the resources provided by the new information and communication technologies play? These questions, among others, were raised by Emilio Pedrinaci, who devoted his work to training geologically literate citizens. We conclude that field trips are not just recommended but necessary in the teachinglearning process within the new competency paradigm, we are betting on the possibility of using them as an agglutinating element of contents of different disciplines. Finally, we highlight the benefits of using technological resources to improve practices and favor the interest of students
