Resumen

Diachronic analysis of aerial photographs and satellite imagery taken between 1966 and 2003, as well as of the topographic map of 1970 was treated to evaluate the Martil urbanization evolution. In a more specific way, the coastal fringe has been transformed by urbanization destined for tourism. The parallel development of housing areas and tourist centers where central planning is either absent or inadequate and with rapid development of housing said illegal and unsafe in direct contact with the population explosion and rapid urbanization that characterize it, has made of Martil a case in point when discussing the changing face of suburban coastline areas and their immediate surrounds in North-west Morocco.
