Resumo

In the Mancha, Ciudad Real province, there are numerous archaeological settlements dated from Copper Age to Iberian and Roman times. In this work, ceramic pieces from 11 localities were mineralogically and geochemically studied. The ceramics were rich in phyllosilicates and quartz, with minor quantities of calcite and fesdspars. The high temperature phases, wollastonite and gehlenite, are normally scarce. V, Mn, Sr, Zr and Ba contents are generally higher than 100 ppm, while B, Cr, Ni, Cu, Ga, Sn and Pb are below this level. The ceramics from Azuer and Los Palacios show compositional similarities, but there exist some differential characteristics among the other ones. A multiple regression and correlation analysis has been made for the ceramic from Azuer and Los Palacios that allows to deduce the trace elements content of each mineral. It is found that the neoformed high temperature phases contain important quantities of trace elements. The geochemical model worked out for «Azuer-Los Palacios» is compared with the ceramics of the other localities. The observed differences seem to be related to the lithology of neighbouring areas. Therefore, the authoctonous character of the studied ceramic pieces it can be concluded.
