Resumen

Focal mechanisms of Muía, 2 February 1999 (M=5.0) earthquake, one foreshock and two aftershock have been determinad. Fault-plane solutions have been estimated from first motion of P waves. Results show reverse faulting with a common plane in all solutions oriented in E-W direction and dipping to the North. This general orientation agrees with the direction of the Crevillente fault. A source time duration of 0.4 s has been estimated for the main shock using the foreshock as empirical Creen function. From spectral analysis of body waves, a scalar seismic moment of 2.1x1 O'7 Nm and a fault length of 4 km has been obtained.
