Abstract

The possible use for extensive goat production of the flora of pilot zone located in the province of Almería, in southern Spain, has been studied. The plant abundance of following three families is emphasized: Compositae, Leguminosae and Graminae families (15.1, 14.8 and 12.6 % of the plant species considered, respectively). These families are also predominant over all the others in the forage catalogue of the zone (19.6, 15.7 and 11.8 %, respectively).
