Abstract
The isotopic composition of modern calcite fills (onyx marble) in fractures and related caves is studied. Carbon and oxygen stable isotopes in this material are similar to the vadose speleothems (stalactites and stalagmites) in modern caves and to ca/careous concre- tions in modern soils. This study can contribute to the recognition of analogous deposits in paleokarsts.
