Abstract

The subjective health or the perception of the health state together with the physical, psychological, emotional and social health, plays an important role for an optimal development of the quality of life in adults and older adults. Likewise, the perception of bodily pain is related to a low psychological health. Previous studies recommend the practice of physical-sports activities in a group format including musical support for the improvement of emotional health, general, and quality of life in this population. Therefore, Gymnastics for all, defined as a noncompetitive collective gymnastic activity of wide and varied motor repertoire and creative work, accompanied by music, is presented as an appropriate and attractive initiative for the improvement of the perception of bodily pain and state of general health in adults and seniors. This chapter of the book introduces the relationship between the concepts of Gymnastics for All, the perception of general health status and bodily pain. Finally, a proposal of intervention based on Gymnastics for all supported by an experimental study conducted in a sample of adult women is detailed. The high adherence to the intervention program (90% attendance to the total of the sessions) and the positive results on the main variables of the study have served as a motivation to describe this intervention in detail in order to serve as a reference in future similar studies.
